Childbirth Education: Knowledge is Power.

_"Since the beginning of time women have shared their experiences about
birth with other women. Viewed as a part of life, birth wisdom was
passed from generation to generation by grandmothers, mothers, sisters,
aunts and those who attended births. When birth moved to the hospital
setting, much of this woman-to-woman education was lost."
-CAPPA philosophy
It is my goal offer childbirth classes that focus on enriching your relationship with your partner, and providing a space to connect with other expecting families.
I offer private and small group childbirth classes as well as homebirth preparation classes. It is my intent that classes stay small and intimate to address the needs of everyone. It is my belief that childbirth can be a pivotal moment in a woman and families' lives and should be met with respect and care. These classes cover the following:
• Nutrition, exercise, and stress reduction during pregnancy
• Anatomy and physiology of pregnancy
• Stages and phases of labor
• Comfort measures for labor
• Un-medicated labor, complications, interventions, and pharmaceutical pain relief
• Progressive relaxation and labor visualization
• Labor support techniques
• Informed consent, advocating for yourself during labor and birth plans
• Indications for cesareans, cesarean procedures and recovery, and avoiding an unnecessary cesarean
• Breastfeeding
• The postpartum period
• Plenty of time for practice and questions
